Fireplace Liners questions
What’s a top-sealing damper?
It’s a damper at the top of the chimney instead of down in the throat. It seals tighter when it’s closed, which keeps cold air, rain and animals out, and you open it with a cable from the firebox.
What’s parging?
Parging is a smooth coat of mortar over the inside of the smoke chamber. It fills gaps and steps in the brick so smoke and creosote don’t catch on them.
How long does it take?
Most fireplace liners are a one or two day job, depending on the chimney.
